Consulting:
Our staff will review, critique and provide recommendations on the selection and design of building envelope components. PCE has extensive experience with all aspects of the building envelope including curtain wall, glass and glazing, exterior wall, roofing and waterproofing systems.

Field & Shop Inspection:
Our staff will monitor the fabrication and assembly of the glass and glazing and cladding components before they leave the manufacturer’s shop to confirm compliance with manufacturer’s standards to meet product requirements.  We will issue reports based on our observations. We will notify the parties involved of any noted deficiencies and follow up on the correction.

In the field, we will monitor the installation of building envelope components verifying compliance with project permit documents, specifications, test reports and local codes.  We will issue reports based on our observations including any noted deficiencies and follow up on their correction.

Special Inspections:
Our staff will perform Special Inspections on specialty construction projects including: glass and glazing, roofing, and waterproofing components as required by the Florida Building Code.  We will monitor the installation and verify that it is in compliance with the permit documents.  Upon completion of the inspection scope of work, we will provide a Statement of Inspection signed and sealed by a Registered Florida Professional Engineer and Special Inspector stating that the work was completed in compliance with the permitted documents.  This letter is required by the Florida Building Department prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.

Threshold Inspections:
Our staff will perform structural inspections on Threshold Buildings as required by the Florida Building Code following the structural inspections plan prepared by the architect or the engineer of record.  Our periodic inspections are conducted in a timely manner as requested by client to ensure there are no delays in the completion of the project. 

Engineering Analysis and Design:
Our Professional Engineers are versed through experience and training in the structural analysis and design and development of glass and glazing components including curtain walls, window walls, glass railing systems, skylights, storefronts, glass doors and operable windows. Our structurally designers have over 25 years of experience in the analysis and design of structures ranging from single family residential buildings to high-rise structures. Our staff will maintain the necessary lines of communication with our clients to ensure that their needs are satisfied fully and on time.

Forensic Investigation of the Building Envelope:
Our staff will help determine the cause and effects of construction defects or damage from the elements to building envelope components resulting in breaches in the envelope and damage to interior components and property.  We will assist in the selection of repair materials and procedures to ensure that damaged or defective components are brought up to required standards and any breaches are corrected.

Expert Opinion, Deposition and Witness Testimony:
Our staff will provide expert opinion and deposition for litigation cases involving the building envelope.  We will perform a preliminary review of the existing documents for the cladding system(s) under investigation and establish the inherent defects in the design and possible reasons for failure.  We will generate an extensive report highlighting our observations and findings resulting from our document review.  Our staff will pinpoint the areas of the cladding system(s) that are potential failures and recommend testing.  We will then prepare an expert presentation that will include images of the affected areas and a detailed explanation of our observations and findings with an expert opinion of cause.  We will provide expert testimony illustrating the cause and effects of failure and our proposed course of remediation.
